HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Beloved,

Today—September 1st—is the beginning of the Church New Year. Time comes and goes and it is through time that we experience life. It makes sense then that we would ask our Lord to bless the year—as we did yesterday after the Liturgy—to bless our life and ask Him to be a part of it. Through the feasts that come year after year we enter more fully into a relationship with our Lord—like coming to know a friend better and better through spending more and more time at a favorite pastime—sports, movies, shows, meals etc. Those pastimes are not boring but exciting and engaging each time.

The more we desire to center our lives in Christ the more we will line our lives up with the Church year and its feasts. We have a good chance to start the year off right by centering ourselves in Christ with the Nativity of the Theotokos (September 8th) and the Elevation of the Cross (September 14th).

with love in Christ,

Fr John
