Beloved,

Today we remember a beloved Antiochian Saint—Jacob of Hamatoura. When I was in Lebanon over the summer I was blessed to go the Monastery where his relics are located and venerate them. Sometimes people ask—what is the proof of Christianity. The answer is—the Saints—people who have been transformed and witnessed to the victory of Christ over death or, better put, people who have died to themselves so that Christ could live in them. Ultimately we want to be able to echo the words of St John the Baptist who says—He must increase but I must decrease (Jn 3.30).  The amazing thing though is that in this decreasing, we inherit everything that is Christ—He becomes ours and that means we have life. 

Great is the mystery of death that has become the path to Life.
